This course is for those who work in community groups, non government organisations (NGOs), charities and other groups who operate in the not-for-profit sector. It is suitable for a wide range of people and organisations who wish to learn how to work effectively with others and develop their leadership and management thinking. It covers the following modules: leadership and management, pastoral care in corporate and community settings, role of not for profit organisations, effective communication, study skills, critical thinking, moral and ethical issues in leadership and management, reflections on pastoral experiences, working with equality and diversity, working with local and central government bodies, children and young people, serving communities: values, ethics, and boundaries, leadership and management; the application of theories, principles and methodologies, application of reflective practice, pastoral and ethical issues in corporate and community life, application of pastoral care in corporate and community settings, application of advanced leadership models, managing change and conflict, building inclusive communities, community based project, research methods, dissertation. Students can progress to a BA (Hons) leadership and management in not-for-profit organisations.
