Students produce films in the realms of documentary and fiction, as well as undertaking genre or specialist routes studies that incorporate production; students have further opportunities to develop skills in scriptwriting, alternative video, music video, sports and events coverage and comedy; there is a strong emphasis throughout the course on practical production delivered within a theoretical context; facilities include: 30 AVID/Final Cut editing suites; 36 professional HD and 36 professional DV cameras; a brand new HD multi-camera production studios including a standing set and chroma-key studio; a multi-camera facility that has been designed so that it can be taken to cover location-based events; students undertake workshops to develop skills in camera, lighting, sound, editing, and all elements of production; also an intense focus on professional practice; from the 2nd year 2 specialist routes are offered: Sports and events coverage; music video/live music events coverage; these routes develop and apply the skills of multi-camera production on location for broadcast both to television and increasingly to the web.
