Film studies: The course focuses on global cinema and film-making; students encounter: Avant garde cinema; mainstream and popular movies; controversial films from around the world; epics; shorts; trailers; comedies; musicals; drams; film noirs; westerns; horror films; science fiction; the course is dynamic, challenging and open to a variety of new and contrary perspectives.History: The course looks at historical and contemporary issues and themes while ensuring considerable freedom of choice; students develop a whole range of historical and career-oreinted skills, while learning about the past's historical relationship with the very complex world of the present day; students can specialise in British political, social or economic history, European or American history; the modules emphasise the importance of historical understanding and interpretation of source materials.The course is weighted 75% major and 25% minor subjects.
