This creative programme will encourage you to develop high-level skills in the key aspects of fashion design and manufacture industry-based practice. You will learn creative and technical skills, industry awareness and commerciality, giving you the best opportunities to secure employment in this ever-competitive global industry.
The course focus is in line with fashion industry requisites through both national and international competitions, live projects, student negotiated placements, industry visits and guest speakers and is made up of 16 modules, including personal professional development, work-related learning, route and specialist modules, the content of which includes:
- conceptual and commercial fashion design,
- trend analysis,
- visual studies (fashion illustration),
- specialist hand-tailoring,
- pattern drafting,
- contextual studies,
- surface pattern/textile techniques and applications,
- working in the digital environment (for example, Adobe Creative Suite), and
- industry based garment manufacturing techniques and processes.
