The course offers the opportunity to explore the ways that everyday experiences, as well as cultural and social values, are implicated in global practices and processes; it also provides an introduction to key themes such as: travel, the city, food and water security, community and belonging, the global media; methods and approaches are used to understand changing identities in contemporary world contexts; the course provides valuable experience and knowledge on the route towards a career as a teacher of English to speakers of other languages; the knowledge can be used both to work at home or abroad and there is the opportunity to take the teaching knowledge test, a globally recognised qualification for English language teachers (subject to an exam fee).
