During the foundation year (year 0) students study human biology, chemistry and the relevant mathematics to a level standard; accompanying modules include the development of study skills and consideration of society's attitudes towards health; students begin by taking an in-depth look at body systems and population health during year 1; the 2nd year includes additional core modules in the science of body systems, social sciences and medical ethics, and a choice of laboratory and non-laboratory based modules; in the final year, students study research methods, research design and statistics, choose special study modules and carry out a research project; students also complete a personal and professional development portfolio.
