The course offers students the opportunity to develop expertise in business and management with a specific focus on their application to information technology; the programme offers a balanced mix of business, management, computer science and information technology modules; students study a core set of modules covering topics such as strategic management of information technology and management strategy; in addition, as the programme has been designed to allow students to focus their studies on either management or technology, they are able to select from a range of modules such as knowledge management; information technology project management and e-business; the programme combines academic and practical modules, consisting of 8 taught modules (6 compulsory, 2 electives) and a dissertation (final research project), adding up to 180 credits; students are assessed for each module; assessment methods may include practical coursework, essays, reflective reports, presentations, a project proposal and a dissertation; graduates develop business and management, and information technology related analytical skills which are highly valued in the manufacturing, science, engineering and technology industries, as well as information technology and related business industries; graduates gain skills that are transferable to a range of careers, including management, research and development, and consultancy roles; in addition, the course provides an excellent foundation for further postgraduate research study through PhD studies.
