Students develop a range of skills, which include: a sound understanding of each of the chosen areas of the law; confidence in the analysis of complex case law; the ability to make an argument convincingly, orally and in writing; the ability to take a co-operative approach to problem solving.

Generic options available to non-specialist students on the programme include: agency and insurance; banking law; company law; law of business organisations; sale of goods; tax havens, money laundering and trust laws; term papers; dissertation; legal research and research methods (compulsory); those wishing to be awarded World Trade Specialism designation must complete 120 units of the following modules in lieu of generic options (all of which are also open to non-specialism students, without designation award): commercial conflict of laws (20 units); corporate insolvency law (20 units); law of world trade (20 units); international trade and maritime law (40 units); international intellectual property law (40 units); intellectual property law and the creative industries (40 units); those wishing to be awarded International Law Specialism designation must complete 120 units of the following modules in lieu of generic options (all of which are also open to non-specialism students, without designation award): commercial conflict of laws (20 units); systems analysis in international law (20 units); law of war (20 units); international medical law and ethics (20 units); law of world trade (20 units); public international law: issues and contemporary practices (40 units); those wishing to be awarded International Oil and Gas Law Specialism designation must complete 120 units of the following modules in lieu of generic options (all of which are also open to non-specialism students, without designation award): international oil and gas law and policy (40 units); environmental regulation and energy exploitation (20 units); international trade and maritime law (40 units); law of world trade (20 units); commercial conflict of laws (20 units).
