The BA liberal arts course is interdisciplinary, innovative, and flexible, yet strongly grounded in the expert research-centred teaching of faculty in the arts and humanities; anchored by a distinctive core course in each year, students study a broad range of options in the 1st year, before choosing a major for years 2 and 3, which enables students to tailor the programme to own interests; students are also encouraged to spend a semester abroad at a partner institution in over 30 countries, and can take a credit-bearing internship module; learners study a modern language in year 1, and have the opportunity to carry that on throughout the degree.

Year 1 examples: Europe from 1793 To 1991 (optional); European history 400 - 1500 (optional); French narrative texts (an introduction) (optional); introduction to comparative literature (methods) (optional); introduction to film studies (forms) (optional); introduction to modern Spanish culture I (optional). Year 2 examples of major subjects: Byzantine studies; classical art and archaeology; comparative literature; English; film studies; French; German; Hellenic studies. Year 3: Continued pursuit of major subject.
