This course is designed to address both the inward and outward facing nature of the discipline, enabling students to fully understand and critique the role and practice of marketing communications in both the business and the social context; the marketing communications course endeavours to provide students with the opportunity to acquire a broad base of knowledge and a critical understanding of consumer behaviour, branding, customer relationships and digital communication; at the same time, an understanding of the impact of the media and broader contemporary communication issues underpin many of the units that are followed; study also requires the development of skills and personal capabilities to act on the acquired knowledge and critical appreciation of the whole area of marketing communications; this is reflected in the aims and intended learning outcomes of this course.
