This highly practical course is aimed at those interested in film and video making. This course encourages experimentation and creative development. It includes all aspects of digital video and 16mm film making with a strong emphasis on the use of sound. There is both digital and analogue editing using Final Cut Pro and Steenbeck editing tables. This course provides a foundation in aspects of the moving image and sound, to allow students to understand current developments and deal with changes in technology. It will enable students to develop a portfolio of work which can be shown to potential employers or higher educational establishments. This course includes the following ten units, the majority of which are practical: contextual studies, media industries, research techniques, media project, production management, camera and lighting workshop, video editing, director, radio documentary, and sound for the moving image. On completion of this course students can progress onto employment in the media industry or to a full degree course.
