The programme is designed to develop specialist scientific/technical knowledge whilst working on the sponsor company's commercial research priorities; the Research Engineers associated with this programme are part of an Industrial Doctorate Centre (IDC) which provides an innovative and transformative research environment in materials science and engineering; the focus of the Centre is the solution of academically challenging and industrially relevant problems, which have at their core the processing microstructure property relationships that are the cornerstones of the discipline; the majority of the research element will be undertaken at the sponsor's premises; Research Engineers return to the University to attend other elements of the programme such as short courses, conferences and seminars.
