The Mining and Minerals Engineering Research Group has research expertise in geomechanics and mining, and mineral processing and recycling; key research areas in mining include: the application of acoustic emission studies in geomechanics; numerical modelling applied to mining and civil engineering; landslide mechanisms and monitoring; ground behaviour in underground coal and metal mines; the application of neural networks in rock engineering; and blasting technology.
