The course aims to: provide a broad and interesting musical training within a lively musical environment that stresses the role of performance; develop skills through a study of music in its historical context, through performance, analysis and composition; encourage curiosity and enthusiasm about a wide range of music; instill the attitudes and ethos of a subject that maintains a high profile of research and scholarship; encourage the use of technology as applicable to the study of music as a creative art; prepare students for a career, either inside or outside music, that involves critical judgement, developed powers of communication and interactive skills.
