This course aims to help the student develop their ability to think logically and critically, to acquire problem-solving skills, to become competent users of relevant software, and to communicate results effectively.
कार्यक्रमका खाकाहरू
Compulsory: computational linear algebra; programming for scientific computation; variational methods; optional: students must choose 60 credits from: algorithm design; corporate financial strategy; financial reporting; object oriented systems; operations research and modelling; options and financial derivatives; risk management in financial institutions; stochastic financial modelling; vocational mathematics; over the summer period towards the end of the course, students undertake a research project in scientific computation with specific emphasis on finance; this research will be of some depth and forms the basis of the dissertation;it is carried out under the supervision of a member of academic staff; this project develops the student's ability to engage in independent learning, and prepares the student for postgraduate research or careers in industry.
