Areas of clinical research include: ventilation techniques and physiological monitoring in pre-term infants; perinatal endocrine adaptation; studies of progressive intellectual and neurological deterioration in children; cancer treatment strategies; monitoring growth in children; respiratory function studies in children with cystic fibrosis and asthma; outcome studies of children receiving intensive care; basic science research is focused on: mechanisms of sex determination in humans; steroid hormone synthesis and metabolism; control of gene expression by steroid hormones; biological actions of androgens; metabolic adaptations to brain injury; genetic and metabolic studies in childhood diabetes and obesity; in addition to the course fee (University Composition fee) students may have to pay a college fee.
