This course has been aimed to produce musicians with the compositional, performance, technological, theoretical and business skills required to compete in the modern music industry. The course focuses primarily on Rock and Pop of the past 50 years, though other styles of 20th and 21st century music (Jazz, for example) also play a part in the curriculum. All students are expected to be competent instrumentalists and/or singers, as live performance is a central part of the programme.Year 1 units: aural and theory in practice, study skills, the music workstation, professional development and work based learning, music in the 21st century, group performance skills, composing, arranging notation. Year 2: recording techniques, music industry skills, sound and image and an industry project.

The course will be delivered at The College's North Road campus from late February 2012.

IELTS statement - If English is not your first language, a minimum of IELTS (Academic) 6.0, or TOEFL 550 (paper based), or TOEFL 80(internet based) is normally required. A telephone interview may also be necessary.
