This course provides participants with a sound understanding of the work of the public services and the environments within which they operate. It includes the following topics: social context of public services, human resource management, physical preparation for public service, international relations and world politics, the state and government with civil liberties and human rights. Year 2 includes organisational behaviour, ethics and public service and public sector resource management, research project, fitness testing and evaluation, and teamwork and leadership through outdoor activities. On successful completion, students may progress to BSc (Hons) Degree or to employment.
