A thought-provoking study of how society works, how it changes, and how people live together; in the 2nd year, students can choose to continue with public sociology, or opt to combine sociology with psychology or criminology or take the single Honours in sociology; public sociology offers a chance to study not only this fast-changing world but to also take disciplinary knowledge beyond the University and to actively connect with local communities and organisations, agencies, charities, think-tanks and activist groups; students have the opportunity to take the placement pathway and have the chance to develop practical skills by working in the UK or overseas for 1 semester.
