To be an effective teacher, the course helps students to develop understanding and skills in 3 main areas: how to teach: students learn a range of teaching strategies and skills, including lesson planning, effective management, assessment, questioning, explaining and the effective use of information communication technology; what to teach: students consider the important questions such as, what is the nature of science? What difficulties do pupils experience? And what does a meaningful science curriculum look like?; what being a professional involves: students gain insights into the complexities of teaching and learning and how to critically reflect on own and others� practice, in order to ensure the student's own professional development; this course is offered on a modular basis.
