In this course students get specialist skills training, mentoring and support from leading game developers, the chance to design and build a working game that can be published and experience every stage of the games development cycle; training is scattered intermittently throughout the duration of the course; students are split into 2 groups: programmers and artists; both teams are set a brief by a games company to design and build a game for a console platform; with mentoring, students work in teams to produce a simple 2-dimensional game in the 1st month, followed by 2 months for the next project (a 3 dimensional console game, before the final 6 month production period which utilises either XBox Kinect or Playstation 3 Move technology.

Within the training section of the course, students learn the fundamental skills used every day in the games industry; programmers are trained in: C++; mathematics; debugging; coding standards; source control; games artists are trained in: Photoshop; 3D Studio Max/Maya; Z Brush; source control.
