The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org), the national accrediting agency for degree programs in this field, upon the recommendation of the Joint Review Committee of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to sit for the American Registry in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) examination in adult echocardiography, abdominal sonography, OB/GYN sonography, and the corresponding physics and instrumentation examinations.

Core Curriculum (30-32 Credits) is as follows: Prerequisites and Recommended Courses: Students must complete Writing Workshop I, Math I, Physical Science: Healthcare, and Anatomy and Physiology for Allied Health prior to taking the professional studies requirements. Writing (8-10 Credits): The following courses may be required based on writing placement assessment, and should be successfully completed within the first three semesters: Intensive Writing Workshop / Y20.7501; Writing Workshop I / Y20.7502; Writing Workshop II / Y20.7503. Math (2 Credits): Math I / Y10.1101. Communications (4 Credits): Oral Communications / Y13.2201. Social Science (4 Credits): The following are examples of courses that may be taken. Students select a total of four credits to fulfill this requirement: Introduction to the Human Services / Y13.2801; Introduction to Psychology / Y20.6801; Introduction to Sociology / Y20.7201.
