This program is designed to train technicians to perform electrical tests and repairs concerned with maintenance and performance evaluation of various electro-mechanical and solid state relays to prevent and remedy abnormal behavior or failure of transmission and distribution lines and equipment; connect test apparatus to troubled circuits; analyze test results and interpret electrical diagrams to locate defective relays and make adjustments or remove relay for repair; analyze test data to determine performance characteristics of relays and effect of system modifications on relay performance and prepare reports of work performed.

Applicants must have completed high school core curriculum requirements such as four units in English - grammar, composition and literature, three units in mathematics - algebra I and above, two units in history - must include one unit of American history, two units in lab science - biology, chemistry, physics or any lab science certified by the school district, one unit in citizenship skills - economics, geography, government, non-western culture, three units in other - additional units of subjects above and/or from computer science and/or foreign language. Applicants should have graduated from an accredited high school or should have earned a General Education Diploma (GED). In addition to this, international students should have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 500 (paper-based), or 61 (internet-based); or an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.0.
