This program prepares students to transfer to universities and technical schools of interior design and for immediate employment as specialty store salespersons, design product representatives, or owners and managers of their own businesses. Students integrate design principles, textile characteristics, and personal style with marketing strategies to create and present projects and a portfolio tailored to their chosen career. Job opportunities include store buyer or manager, interiors consultant, interiors promotion and sales representatives.

Admission to this college is opened for applicants possessing a high school diploma or the equivalent or any individual who is at least 18 years of age and capable of profiting from the instruction. International students with a TOEFL score of less than 475 paper-based, 153 computer-based, or 53 internet-based are required to take the Allan Hancock College English as a Second Language (ESL) assessment test for placement into the appropriate ESL classes before registering for classes. And those who with a score of 475 paper-based (153 computer-based) or higher on the TOEFL are required to take the Allan Hancock College START test for English placement.
