This program is designed for students preparing for or advancing their careers in social services, including those who plan to transfer to a four-year university and pursue a course of studies leading to masters in social work and licensure as a clinical social worker. Upon completion of this program, students may go to work in a social services agency or they may use it as a foundation for further study.

Admission to this college is opened for applicants possessing a high school diploma or the equivalent or any individual who is at least 18 years of age and capable of profiting from the instruction. International students with a TOEFL score of less than 475 paper-based, 153 computer-based, or 53 internet-based are required to take the Allan Hancock College English as a Second Language (ESL) assessment test for placement into the appropriate ESL classes before registering for classes. And those who with a score of 475 paper-based (153 computer-based) or higher on the TOEFL are required to take the Allan Hancock College START test for English placement.
