This program provides training in the techniques of fashion art and apparel design. It prepares students for a variety of careers in fashion design. Students after completion of this degree hold positions as design assistant, designer, CAD designer, stylist and collection specialist. Fashion design graduates start their own lines or work in major design houses including Donna Karan, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Polo Ralph Lauren, Giorgio Armani, Elie Tahari, BCBG and BCBG Max Azria, Carolina Herrera Ltd, Kleinfeld Bridal, Alice and Olivia, Nordstrom’s Spiegel Brands.

Students must have completed high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED). They should have a grade point average (GPA) and rank in class (except applicants who have received an associate’s or bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college in the United States). SAT and ACT test scores are not required for admissions purposes. They are, however, required for the presidential scholars program. Applicants who have not submitted SAT/ACT test scores will have to take the FIT placement exam. Those who have completed less than four years of English (not ESL) at a U.S. high school are required to take the TOEFL or IELTS. International students must have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 80 on internet-based (ibt) test, 213 on computer-based test, 550 on paper-based test; IELTS band score of 6.5 in the academic module is required. Applicants who have completed an English composition course at a college in the U.S. are not exempt from taking the TOEFL or IELTS scores.
