This program emphasizes the theory and application of electronic circuits, instrumentation, and systems. Numerous laboratory experiences reinforce the concepts taught in the classroom. Course work in this curriculum includes a strong foundation in basic circuit theory, semiconductor applications, digital systems, microprocessor programming and interfacing, plus essential concepts in mathematics, science, and interpersonal communications. Electronic and computer engineering technicians work in all areas of the electronics industry, including industrial control electronics, communications, and digital systems. These individuals work closely with electronic engineering technologists, electrical engineers, computer scientists, and other professionals in the design, development, marketing, and maintenance of electronic products and systems.

Students should be a high school graduate from an accredited high school. They should have achieved an ACT score of 21 or above or an SAT (critical reading and math) of 980 or above; or ranked in the top third of the graduating class at the end of the seventh or eighth semester; or completed the precollege curriculum such as English, natural science, math, and social science. In addition to this, if international students meet the academic requirements, Kansas State University may conditionally admit them with no proof of English proficiency. English proficiency requirements for unconditional admission are transfer students from a U.S. institution must have completed both 24 credit hours at an accredited U.S. institution and English Composition I and II with grades of C or better; an IBT (Internet based TOEFL) - composite score of 79 or higher; IELTS - composite score of 6.5 or higher; ACT - English part score of 23 or higher; SAT - verbal part score of 530 or higher; PTE - Pearson Test of English - overall score of 53 or higher; Eiken (Pre-1 score); and four years attendance in a U.S. high school with grades of C or better in all college preparatory courses.
