This program is designed to meet the needs of current health care office employees and others to develop skills to prepare for technical, supervisory, or management positions in the health care field. Graduates will be trained for the daily operation and management of the health care practice. The responsibilities include all administrative, financial, human resources, clerical and supply functions, with a special emphasis on medical coding, insurance billing, and financial analysis.

International students are not required to take the SAT or the ACT for standard admission. However, these tests may be required for direct admission and scholarship consideration. Undergraduate students must achieve a minimum TOEFL score of 173 (61 Internet-based test), a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or a minimum MELAB score of 69. TOEFL, IELTS and MELAB scores are valid for two (2) years from test date. The University of Akron accepts only valid test scores.
