The mission of the Engineering and Science Technology Department is to provide high quality career focused education that meets the needs of the students as they prepare for careers in this region’s industrial, technical, and business community. Programs are structured to provide degree, certificate, and career enhancement opportunities for the recent high school graduate and the non traditional student returning for both degree and skill specific objectives. Summit College's Department of Engineering and Science Technology is located Schrank Hall - North and South. The department's faculty pride themselves in applying leading edge technology to classroom instruction and while using the latest technology to compliment our hands-on instructional approach. Areas of technical instruction include Geographic and Land Information Systems, Mechanical, Electronic, Surveying and Mapping, Construction, Drafting, Manufacturing and Automated Manufacturing. The department also provides instruction in the General Technologies of Chemistry and Physics. Each area instructs it's students on scientific theories that are used in industry, and reinforce the theoretical instruction with hands-on training using equipment and technology used in industry.

The Student Union is a 204,000 square foot facility that houses the Department of Student Life, student organization offices, Commuter Central, The Source, Game Room, Theatre, Information Center, Ballroom and Meeting Rooms, DocuZip copy center, Computer Solutions, Barnes and Noble Bookstore, Fifth Third Bank, as well as the following dining areas: Union Market, Subway, Sizzlin Zone, Italian Zone, Starbucks and Zee's Convenience store.
