This program prepares students for employment in a variety of staff positions in child care centers, nursery schools, and Head Start programs that service infants, toddlers, and pre-Kindergarten children. Graduates can be classroom assistants or head teachers, run their own center or be a center administrator.

International students are not required to take the SAT or the ACT for standard admission. However, these tests may be required for direct admission and scholarship consideration. Undergraduate students must achieve a minimum TOEFL score of 173 (61 Internet-based test), a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or a minimum MELAB score of 69. TOEFL, IELTS and MELAB scores are valid for two (2) years from test date. The University of Akron accepts only valid test scores.
