This program leads to teacher certification in general science. Students wishing to teach biology only should see the previous section entitled "High School Education/Biology (Double Major)". This program has allowed to forge partnerships across disciplines and to integrate research and practice in order to prepare outstanding new teachers.

Students must have secondary school evaluation report, official high school or college transcripts, a minimum ACT score of 20 or a minimum SAT combined score of 950 (critical thinking + math), a minimum TOEFL score (UAB code 1856) of 500 on the written examination, or a score of 173 on the computer-based version, or 61 on the Internet-based version or IELTS score of 5.5 overall bandwith with no less than a 5.0 on any module for international students whose native language is not English.
