This program encourages students to develop their historical awareness, and their ability to use historical knowledge to make informed decisions. The program stresses cultural and information literacy. It encourages the study of historical events in their cultural context, and stresses the role of media and technology in historical study.This track prepares students for graduate study and for careers in archival preservation.

Some of the courses are: GIT 294 Introduction to Digital Photography, GIT 303 Digital Publishing, HTY 220 Introduction to Digital Archives, HTY 230 Introduction to Corporate Archiving, HTY 334 Archival Preservation and Digital Media, HTY 336 Editing Historical Documents, HTY 370 History of Collecting, HTY 410 Historic Preservation.

The Applicants need not take the ACT or SAT tests for admission; however, they may be required for entrances into some ASU schools/colleges. Applicants whose native language is not English must provide evidence of English language proficiency. The English proficiency requirement may be fulfilled by meeting one of the following: Minimum score of 500 (paper-based), 173 (computer-based), or 61 (internet-based) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL); Minimum overall band of 6.0 with no band below 5.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
