This program offers a focused minor in history; both the major and minor in history can be combined with another academic major or minor or certificates.

The courses are: HIST 260: History of the United States to 1865, HIST 261: History of the United States since 1865, pre-1500 European history, modern European history, U.S. history, non-western history, including Asian, African, Middle Eastern, or Latin American.

To be considered for admission to any Saint Louis University undergraduate program, the applicant must be a graduate of an accredited high school or must have an acceptable score on the General Education Development (GED) test. Students are strongly encouraged to present five academic courses for each of the four years of high school. These academic courses should include the following: 4 years of English, 4 years of Mathematics, 3 years of Foreign Language, 3 years of Natural Sciences, 3 years of Social Sciences and 3 years of Academic Electives. The minimum scores required for TOEFL is paper-based (PBT) = 550, Internet-based (iBT) = 80 and Computer-based (CBT) = 213 and IELTS score should be 6.0.

The Department of History has been providing a solid foundation of historical understanding to the undergraduate students of Saint Louis University for more than a century and a half. The Graduate Program began in 1915 and in a few decades grew to become one of the major Ph.D.-granting programs in the country. The Department is an active community of diverse, internationally recognized scholars. Every one of the twenty-three colleagues is engaged in original research, and dedicated to sharing it with students. The strong research culture is reflected in the volume of scholarly publications, peer-reviewed articles, and given numerous scholarly papers at national and international conferences. Course offerings range around the globe, and include the Americas, Europe, Africa, Middle East, and the Far East.

The Department of Housing and Residence Life have several Residence Halls and Learning Community available to suit all needs. All freshmen must live on campus and are guaranteed housing. The Griesedieck Complex is the largest building on campus and is completely dedicated to the First Year Experience program. Forming a U shape, the halls of Clemens, Walsh, and Griesedieck all come together into a common lobby area with a pool table, ping pong, couches, chairs, and tables. Below the lobby is the Griesedieck Dining Hall. Reinert Hall is dedicated to the First Year Experience program including several Freshmen Learning Communities. Over 500 residents live in triple and quad occupancy rooms with private baths and air-conditioning. Fusz Hall offers residents a comfortable blend of academics and social life. Two community baths and shower rooms exist on each floor. In addition, each floor community has its own furnished lounge, many of which have TVs and VCRs. Fusz Hall also has a 24-hour security desk, its own Food Court, and a Campus Minister for support and guidance. Also attached to the hall is the Museum of Contemporary Religious Art. The Village Apartments offer single, double, triple, and quad occupancy furnished apartments designed with a living room, kitchen, and washer/dryer units. The triple and quad occupancy apartments are designed with two full baths. A number of the apartments have balconies. The Laclede Houses are located on Laclede Avenue next to the Village Apartments. They offer single and double bedrooms with living rooms and full kitchens in each house. A resident advisor lives in one of the houses to offer assistance. The Marguerite Hall offers a semi-private bathroom shared by two double occupancy rooms. 20 to 40 residents live on each floor, split into two wings.
