Students should be a high school graduate from an accredited high school. They should have achieved an ACT score of 21 or above or an SAT (critical reading and math) of 980 or above; or ranked in the top third of the graduating class at the end of the seventh or eighth semester; or completed the precollege curriculum such as English, natural science, math, and social science. In addition to this, if international students meet the academic requirements, Kansas State University may conditionally admit them with no proof of English proficiency. English proficiency requirements for unconditional admission are transfer students from a U.S. institution must have completed both 24 credit hours at an accredited U.S. institution and English Composition I and II with grades of C or better; an IBT (Internet based TOEFL) - composite score of 79 or higher; IELTS - composite score of 6.5 or higher; ACT - English part score of 23 or higher; SAT - verbal part score of 530 or higher; PTE - Pearson Test of English - overall score of 53 or higher; Eiken (Pre-1 score); and four years attendance in a U.S. high school with grades of C or better in all college preparatory courses.

Kansas State University ranks as one of the nation’s “cutting-edge schools,” according to a guidebook that pinpoints today’s hottest majors and the innovative colleges that offer them. The main campus is located in Manhattan, Kansas. The “Little Apple” is a classic college town with a zoo, a mall, 21 parks, and a recreation trail that circles the city. The College of Technology and Aviation is located in Salina, home to the Smoky Hill River Festival. K-State got its start in 1858, when Bluemont Central College was founded and 53 students enrolled. Five years later K-State became the first college in America to be officially designated a land-grant school. By 2004 K-State’s enrollment had grown to more than 23,000. K-State is in the Big 12 Conference of collegiate athletics. The conference is made up of 12 institutions, sponsors 21 sports, and encompasses seven states in its geographical footprint. K-State is a member of The Kansas Board of Regents, a nine-member body which governs the six state universities, and supervises and coordinates 19 community colleges, five technical colleges, six technical schools and a municipal university.

Students will be a part of a dynamic, supportive, and responsive community right on campus. Studies show that students who participate in residence hall programs: earn higher grades than students who commute or live off campus; have a greater chance of remaining in college; become more involved in university activities. This service offers lifestyle option for students to live in: Both single-gender and coeducational residence halls; Traditional rooms and suites; Continuous housing spaces; Quiet floors; Cluster floors include leadership studies, community service, agriculture, architecture, business administration, engineering, and pre-health; Apartment-style living for graduate students, upperclassmen, married students, and students with children. The housing also provide academic support such as: tutoring sessions, computer labs, multimedia classrooms, and quiet study rooms; trained staff in the academic resource centers in Derby and Kramer Dining Centers. K-State's dining program has been recognized by the National Association of College and University Food Services for having the best daily menus in the nation, special event dinners, and nutrition education. Students who need to study or have a class over lunch, a grab-and-go option is available in all dining centers. Three meal plans are available. Students can plan social events, set hall policies, and suggest changes in dining services menus. Some of the groups in which students can involve are: Association of Residence Halls, Hall governing boards, Dining services committees, National Residence Hall Honorary, Hall judicial boards, Floor governing councils, Diversity teams, Hall tour teams, and Housing and Dining ambassadors.
