The Department of Music and Dance boasts a faculty of world-class performers and scholars committed to providing a creative, vibrant and challenging center for artistic development. Music and Dance programs within the Department are dedicated to the professional training of students in education, applied performance, and history. The Department's facilities include the 615-seat Nightingale Concert Hall, housed in the Church Fine Arts building. Completed in 1987, the Hall is renowned for its excellent acoustics. Throughout the year, it is home to a broad range of concerts featuring students and faculty, as well as local and international artists. The Harrah Music Wing and the Clarence and Martha Jones Music Studio Center include classrooms, practice rooms, a recording studio, and several instrumental rehearsal facilities.

Living ON-CAMPUS affords a variety of advantages such as proximity to the university, opportunities to meet people, access to computer labs, television lounges, and options for a variety of living situations. Living on-campus can be especially convenient for international students as it relieves much of the stress of looking for housing, commuting to the university, and preparing meals. There are seven residence halls which provide housing for single students on campus and there is also a family housing complex near campus.
