This program provide excellent instruction and design experiences essential for graduates to enter the practice of petroleum engineering and pursue lifelong professional development.

Students must have graduated from an accredited high school and present the required combination of high school class rank and college entrance test scores. They should have successfully completed the curriculum requirements such as 4 units of English, 3 units of mathematics and 2 units of laboratory science or advanced high school program or its equivalent. They must have the satisfied ACT assessment or score of at least 1,500 out of 2,400 or the equivalent on SAT. Applicants whose native language is not English must meet an English proficiency requirement by submitting Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a score of at least 550 on paper exam, 213 on computer exam or 79 on internet-based exam or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a score of at least 6.5 is required for admission.

The Texas Tech Philosophy Department, ranked among the top Philosophy MA programs in the nation, is committed to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, research, and service to the Texas Tech community. Our graduate and upper division classes are small, and students can expect to receive a great deal of individual attention from faculty. Members of the faculty mentor both graduate student teaching and individual research projects, including assisting students in preparing papers for regional conferences or for publication. Since our faculty specializations reflect a wide range of research interests, programs of study can reflect breadth as well as depth. We have particular strengths in Ethics, Aesthetics, and Epistemology. Our colloquium series allows students to meet directly with visiting philosophers of national and international renown. In all of this, we are committed to preparing students for the profession of philosophy, as well as for other professions such as law and public service.
