This program is designed for students who want broad training in allied health sciences in preparation for health professions that require completion of graduate/professional level programs. Working with an advisor, students design a flexible plan of study that can be tailored to meet their professional and personal goals.

Admission to the Health Sciences, Health Promotion Sciences or Occupational Safely and Health concentrations within the Allied Health Sciences major requires a minimum of 45 earned credits, a cumulative GPA of 2.2 or higher, academic good standing, and successful completion of one college level (1000-level or higher) course in each of the following: biology, chemistry, and mathematics. Students should complete, as a minimum, the following college preparatory courses while in high school: Four years of English, three years of math (algebra I, algebra II and geometry), two years of social studies (including one year of U.S. History), two years of a single foreign language (3 years strongly recommended), two years of laboratory science, three years of electives. The minimum score requirement for the TOEFL is 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), or 79 (Internet-based). The minimum score requirement for the IELTS exam is 6.5.

The Department of Allied Health Sciences (formerly School of Allied Health) was established in 1972 as the primary educational resource for the preparation of allied health professionals within the state. Throughout its history, department's mission has been to provide educational programs and leadership that will improve health care and the health care delivery system. The Department is firmly committed to fostering cultural competence in students, faculty and members of the health care community and to increasing career opportunities for individuals from under represented populations in the allied health professions.

University provides on campus housing at the following residence halls for graduate students at the following places: Graduate Residences; The Graduate Residences contain single rooms for graduate students and older undergraduates. Centrally located on campus, the Graduate Residences consist of three buildings in a coeducational complex that contains 440 carpeted, single rooms. These buildings are subdivided into 16 halls with no more than ten students sharing a bathroom on a floor. These residences provide year-round housing including breaks between semesters and holidays. Northwood Apartments; The Northwood Apartments complex is located on Northwood Road, just off of North Eagleville Road on the western perimeter of the University of Connecticut campus. Northwood Apartments provides housing for graduate students in two-bedroom apartments and also accommodates graduate students with families. Some undergraduate students may also be housed in two-bedroom apartments. Hilltop Apartments; The Hilltop Apartments are home to 964 undergraduate and graduate students. While primarily serving the undergraduate student population there are a number of apartments available for graduate students. The complex is comprised of thirteen, three story buildings and a Community Center. There are a variety of living options available ranging from four person, two person, and one person efficiency apartments. University also provides on campus housing for the undergraduate students at the following residence halls; Alumni Quadrangle, Buckley, Charter Oak Apartments, Alan Thacker Busby Suites (formerly Charter Oak Suites), East Campus, Hilltop Residence Halls, Hilltop Apartments, Harry Lucian Garrigus Suites (formerly Hilltop Suites), Husky Village, Mansfield Apartments, McMahon Hall, Northwest - Freshmen Only, North Campus, Shippee - Freshmen Only, South Campus, Towers Quadrangle, West Campus.
