The goal of the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at the Merrick School of Business is to produce students with the capacity to compete and be productive in today’s complex business environment. The program will provide high quality management education that develops the skills required to meet the diverse needs of employers in a variety of areas in business. Successful business leaders must understand the varied factors that act upon, and within, any organization. The undergraduate business administration general business specialization allows students to customize their studies and prepares them for work in the public, private or nonprofit sectors. Students who graduate with the general business specialization in business administration are prepared for careers in: general management, international business, management consulting, financial firms, mortgages and title companies, government agencies. As a business major, students will learn core elements of business, such as accounting, economics, finance, information systems, management and marketing. The general business specialization will expand their knowledge through the 15 elective credits they choose to customize their studies: one course from each of three disciplines, such as accounting, finance, information systems, management science, management or marketing.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or a General Educational Diploma (GED) from an accredited institution or equivalent and a minimum of 21 credits. These credits include four (Carnegie) units of English, three units of mathematics (algebra I, algebra II and geometry), three units of science (two with labs), three units of social sciences and the remaining units in fine arts, foreign language, technology education or other academic electives. International Students must have minimum TOEFL score of 550 on paper based, 213 on computer based or 79 on the Internet based test.
