Graduates will enter the workforce and demonstrate a high-quality basic education in chemical and biochemical engineering fundamentals including chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, and related engineering sciences will demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to apply engineering fundamentals to the analysis, synthesis, and evaluation of conventional areas of chemical engineering such as energy and chemical production and emerging areas such as biochemical engineering; and they will develop personally to ensure a lifetime of professional success and an appreciation for the ethical and social responsibilities of chemical engineering and world citizen.

Students should have taken 4 units of English, 2 units of algebra, 1 unit of geometry, 1 unit of advanced, Mathematics (trigonometry), 3 units of history or social studies, 3 units of lab science (1 unit must be chemistry or physics), 2 units of academic electives. Trigonometry is the minimum math requirement; however, students should complete pre-calculus or calculus if they have the opportunity to do so. Students should rank in the upper one-third of their high school class and have strong ACT or SAT scores. SAT with writing or the ACT with or without the optional writing test is accepted. Average GPA 3.7/4.0, Average SAT (Critical Reading and Math) 1260, Average ACT Composite 28 is required.

Colorado School of Mines is a public research university devoted to engineering and applied science. The Apartments at Mines Park is an apartment complex that was built to provide convenient, affordable housing for the expanding Mines Community. The complex was built in three different phases and has two apartments for both single students and families. There are one, two and three bedroom units for single students, and one and two bedroom units for families. The apartments are unfurnished. The kitchen is equipped with a full size refrigerator, dishwater and an oven and range. Each bedroom has a hook up for expanded basic cable television and wired or wireless connection to the Mines network. There are two Community Centers at Mines Park. Both feature laundry facilities, television lounge, study area and kitchen. A Convenience Store is featured at one of the Community Centers.
