This program encompasses both communication theory and rhetorical arts, has two primary educational goals: to develop students’ ability to communicate with others and to educate students to effectively evaluate the communication of others. This academic track teaches students to adopt a rhetorical and critical perspective toward life. This academic focus emphasizes the use of language to construct social reality. It attempts to develop a student's ability to analyze communication in different social, political, and organizational settings. This track emphasizes rhetoric's role in creating socio/political understanding and debate. There is also a focus on the ethical use of rhetoric in this academic specialization. His academic track is valuable for students who seek a greater understanding of the rhetorical processes at work in the culture. This track is useful for students interested in graduate degrees in communication or law. Additionally, this specialization offers a valuable education for those students interested in leadership roles in civic life, community organizations, and/or social and political movements. The potential careers include speech writer, political consultant, editor, public relations, college professor, journalist.

Students should be a high school graduate from an accredited high school. They should have achieved an ACT score of 21 or above or an SAT (critical reading and math) of 980 or above; or ranked in the top third of the graduating class at the end of the seventh or eighth semester; or completed the precollege curriculum such as English, natural science, math, and social science. In addition to this, if international students meet the academic requirements, Kansas State University may conditionally admit them with no proof of English proficiency. English proficiency requirements for unconditional admission are transfer students from a U.S. institution must have completed both 24 credit hours at an accredited U.S. institution and English Composition I and II with grades of C or better; an IBT (Internet based TOEFL) - composite score of 79 or higher; IELTS - composite score of 6.5 or higher; ACT - English part score of 23 or higher; SAT - verbal part score of 530 or higher; PTE - Pearson Test of English - overall score of 53 or higher; Eiken (Pre-1 score); and four years attendance in a U.S. high school with grades of C or better in all college preparatory courses.
