This program follows the Institute model to allow students to incorporate research experiences into the major program of study. Students will complete nine hours of credit research work on various aspects of the computer as a medium, working in such areas as computational principles, the representation and manipulation of digital media, software design, visual and interactive design, digital art, and media theory and history.

Students should have score of the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT I). The scores must be sent directly from the testing agency to Georgia Tech. Regardless of the system in which student have been educated, they must earn a minimum score of 440 on the verbal portion of the SAT I to be considered for admission. Based on figures from previous years, they combined math and verbal SAT I score should be better than 1300 to be competitive for admission. Students should have official English translation and a document-by-document evaluation of the high school coursework. The document-by-document evaluation must be prepared by an accredited foreign credential evaluation service that names and describes all diplomas, certificates, degrees, periods of education or training and gives U.S. equivalences for each. This evaluation must also include a GPA.
