This program offers a comprehensive multidisciplinary study of the nature and quality of the food supply and the nutritional requirements for health in people. Graduates are qualified to enter a dietetic internship as preparation for careers in dietetics, and are qualified for careers in food service management, food science technology, marketing of foods and nutritional products. Graduates work in a variety of settings including hospitals, clinics, institutions, food companies, governmental agencies, and laboratories. Students take core sequences of coursework in the areas of nutrition, food science, and food management founded on prerequisite courses in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, physiology, accounting, management, and the behavioral and social sciences.

Students should have a minimum US equivalent GPA of 3.0 (B grade or about 80 per cent) or higher. In addition to this, international students whose major education has been in a language other than English must score 550 or higher (using the paper version) or 213 or higher (using the computer version) or 80 or higher (using the internet version) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL); or 6.5 or better on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
