The B.S. Ed. degree in special education is designed for those who plan to teach students with disabilities at the elementary, intermediate, or secondary level. Completion of department and appropriate requirements leads to certification by entitlement for teaching individuals with learning disabilities, behavior disorders, developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, traumatic brain injury, and autism, as a Learning Behavior Specialist I, with Type 10 Standard Special certification.

The courses are: TLCI 300 - The Community: An Educational Resource, TLCI 340 - Elementary School Curriculum, TLCI 450 - Classroom Management, TLEE 282 - Educational Participation in Clinical Experiences: Elementary Education, Students must take 1 credit hour in this course: TLEE 342 - The Teaching of Social Studies in the Elementary School, TLEE 344 - Teaching Science in the Elementary School, TLEE 382 - Clinical Experience in Elementary School Curriculum and Instruction, TLEE 383 - Elementary School Curriculum and Instruction: Field Experience, TLEE 460 - Seminar in Elementary School Student Teaching (must be taken concurrently with TLEE 485), TLEE 485 - Student Teaching. Students must take 10 credit hours in this course TLSE 240 - Introduction to Special Education, TLSE 456 - Collaboration for Inclusive Teaching and Learning.

Students should possess High School Diploma and should have GPA score of at least 2.50 on a 4.00 (USA) scale or be in the upper-half of their graduating class. Applicants who have a GPA of 2.75 on a 4.00 scale or are in the upper-half of the class must have ACT composite score of at least 19 and SAT score of 870-900. Applicants who have 2.50 on a 4.00 scale or are in the upper two-thirds of the class must have ACT composite score of at least 23 and SAT score of 1030-1050. Students should have TOEFL scores which includes 527 on a paper based test, 197 on computer-based test or 71 on an internet based test. IELTS Score includes 6.0. Students need not submit TOEFL/IELTS score, if they can prove English is recognized as their countries' native language and if they have attended a US High School for more than 1 year.
