This program is a traditional computer science degree. It prepares a student for employment or graduate study in computer science. Students are also prepared to pursue a graduate degree in another technology-related area, business or education.

The Applicants whose first language is not English must take the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). In order to be competitive for the admission to BYU-Hawaii students need to score a minimum of 500 on the written TOEFL or 173 on the computerized TOEFL. Before registering for classes, most international students are required to take a language proficiency test on campus. Most applicants, including those with scores up to 600 on the TOEFL, may be required to take from 4 to 12 months at BYU-Hawaii's EIL program. Students may take the Michigan two times per year. A minimum score of 75 or higher is required for entry into BYU-Hawaii. The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is also required.
