The Asian Studies Program offers students an interdisciplinary approach to the study of Asia at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. While offering courses of its own, the program draws from the rich resources afforded by the various departments on campus, enabling each student to design a program of study tailored to his or her particular interest. Students may elect approved courses from the following disciplines: American Studies, anthropology, apparel design, production & management, art, business, economics, geography, philosophy, history, linguistics, literature, political science, music, religion, sociology, theater and dance, women's studies and others. Other departments in the University, including Indo-Pacific Languages, East Asian Languages and Literature, and Linguistics, additionally, provide a wide repertoire for students to fashion their own program with the assistance of advisers and faculty.

The University housing program provides on-campus housing to Manoa students in a variety of living arrangements that include apartments and traditional coed facilities, single and double occupancy rooms, suites and apartment units. The University housing program strives to create an atmosphere conducive to the development of responsible citizens in a democratic community. Specific rules and regulations intended to protect the rights of individuals have been developed by the University administration, residential staff and student leaders. Each resident is responsible to know and observe these rules and regulations. Residents who cannot accept these basic rules for community living or cannot extend consideration for the rights of other residents should evaluate their needs carefully before applying for on-campus housing. Contract releases are not granted for reasons of dissatisfaction with a group living environment. The 2008-2009 Academic Year contract provides housing for the Fall and Spring semesters with prices for traditional doubles starting at $3,497 and apartments units starting at $4,631. Meal plans are handled by a private provider, Sodexho, with prices starting around $1,151 per semester, or $2,302 for the academic year. All applicants should review the assignment terms and priorities for the 2008-2009 academic year.
