This program encourages students to combine new media practice and visual art theory with strong technical sophistication, a rich sense of visual design, and an ability to articulate artistic research. The UO program in digital arts emphasizes creative thinking, experimentation, visual communication delivery systems, and intense research. The clear and honest visual communication of an idea, whether for one’s personal vision or for a client’s, requires a fluent understanding of the visual language and the ability to articulate it. The Digital Arts program focuses on research, production, and installation, in the context of a technologically sophisticated studio environment. The Digital Arts program seeks students who are willing to experiment and are capable of an intense standard of creativity.

Students must have satisfactorily completed high school (secondary school) with a B average or a 3.00 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.00 scale. Students must have a minimum score of 500 on the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language or 61 on the internet-based TOEFL or a minimum score of 6.0 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
