Fontbonne University is a Catholic coeducational institution of higher education offering liberal arts, professional and adult programs. Founded in 1923 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and located truly in the heart of the St. Louis metropolitan area, and that's good news for the university's students, faculty and staff. Its campus is located just minutes from Forest Park, site of the 1904 World's Fair, which outdoes New York's Central Park in size. Frequented by runners, rollerbladers and picnickers, the park also hosts some of the region's favorite cultural and educational institutions: the St. Louis Art Museum, St. Louis Science Center and the Missouri History Museum. All are free to the public. Even the Municipal Opera (affectionately known as the Muny), a 12,000-seat outdoor ampitheater, offers free seats for its summer theatre productions.

This university's campus community has traditional student rooms and suites as well as apartments. All resident students must have the following vaccinations before moving into the residence halls: Tuberculosis (within 6 months of housing application), Meningitis, and Mumps (MMR). The university provides housing in Medaille Hall, St. Joseph's Hall, Southwest Hall, and Cotta Hall Apartments. All facilities in the university are smoke free environments; every on-campus hall is unique in its own way, however they all share some great features: all on-campus residents have a mailbox located on the main floor of Medaille Hall; local phone service is available in each resident's room and is included in the price of the room, students must provide their own touch-tone phone to access their voicemail system; basic cable service is provided for the residence halls, approximately 40 channels are available for viewing; residents have 24-hour access to computer labs located in Medaille, St. Joseph and Southwest Halls, students with personal computers have wireless internet access in their room; laundry facilities are available in each hall, the cost is $1 for both washers and dryers; wireless access (802.11 wireless card needed); vending machines are available in each residence hall; due to limited storage, seasonal clothing should be brought and exchanged during the off season.
