This program requires students to complete the University of Akron's General Education Requirements, the second year of a foreign language, and a minimum of 32 credits in history courses. Each student must also include the College of Arts and Sciences requirement of 47 credits of upper division work (including history courses but not including General Education courses). For graduation, 128 total credits are required with a minimum grade point average of 2.0.

International students are not required to take the SAT or the ACT for standard admission. However, these tests may be required for direct admission and scholarship consideration. Undergraduate students must achieve a minimum TOEFL score of 173 (61 Internet-based test), a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or a minimum MELAB score of 69. TOEFL, IELTS and MELAB scores are valid for two (2) years from test date. The University of Akron accepts only valid test scores.
