The Department of Art offers undergraduate programs leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree and the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art and the Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History. An option in Arts Administration may be taken with the Bachelor of Arts degree in either Studio Art or Art History. The department offers graduate programs leading to the Master of Arts degree in Studio Art and Art History, and the Master of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art. The department offers class instruction to approximately 1,450 undergraduate students per semester. The Art Department is within the College of Arts and Sciences and is centrally located on the campus of The University of Alabama. All programs are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).

For a $40 membership fee, students can join the Off-Campus Association (OCA). The OCA is a nonprofit organization that allows its members — composed of students, staff, and faculty of The University of Alabama to receive significant savings on public utility deposits (electricity and natural gas). The University maintains more than 200 student apartments geared toward graduate/older students, which offer both the benefits of independent living and the convenience of campus housing.
