This university provides on-campus housing through residence halls. Living in the residence halls or in the family housing complex is convenient, economical and a great way to make new friends. Eastern has the lowest housing costs in Washington State. The university has seven modern, well-equipped residence halls with a capacity of 2,000 students. Each floor has a small kitchen, hot plate and a sink. In most residence halls, women and men live on co-ed floors (some all female floors are available) and recreation facilities on the ground floor are for everyone. All residence halls are equipped with automatic washers and dryers, study rooms, TV rooms, formal and informal lounges and all have outside recreational facilities nearby. Some have music practice rooms and outdoor terraces. Residential hall supervisors are trained, professional people who are devoted to helping the students. Each hall has its own government and regularly scheduled social activities. The university's housing and dining services offer several options of meal plans for the students, they can eat at the university's on-campus cafeterias. Each dormitory has a kitchen available for residents, so the students can cook their own meals, too. Students living in the campus will be provided a bed, desk, basic extended cable service and free-local call phone hook-up; students have to buy linens such as towels, sheets and pillow covers, items for showering, furniture other than a bed and a desk and any personal items. Those who live off-campus, they have to find an apartment on their own. The International Education Office and the Office of Residential Life are unable to assist students in finding off-campus housing. Students planning on living off campus may need to arrange to stay in a hotel or with friends until appropriate housing is found.
